A Closer Look at Own Skin Health Anti-aging Eye Cream

Last week we spoke about the importance of using anti aging eye cream and what to look for when choosing an eye cream to add to our beauty regimen.  If you were not able to visit the blog last week, here are the links to those specific posts:

Why do we need eye cream?
Choosing an Anti-aging eye cream

To end the mini "eye-care" series, today's post will be about an eye cream we have been testing out for the past few weeks: Own Skin Health Lifting Eye Cream

Most anti wrinkle lifting eye creams contain ingredients that provide extra moisture to your skin. This helps in diminishing darkness from the skin making it look more firm. Many anti wrinkle eye creams contain vitamins A and D. These are the vitamins that are lost when skin is exposed to sun rays for a long period over time.

Own Skin Health Lifting Eye Cream is a little different. How?

own anti aging lifting eye cream

For starters, the eye cream contains CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) which is a plant based technology that is formulated to work with your bodies unique chemistry. So what does that mean for you?  Well, although our body chemistry differs from one another, with proper application and use over time, we should be able to see great results.  True, some of us may experience these lifting results sooner than others, but none the less - RESULTS should be seen.

Okay - now that you know what key ingredient is in this Lifting Eye Cream, let me make a list of what is NOT in this eye cream:

  • Retinol Free formula
  • Fragrance Free
  • Paraben Free
  • Sulfate Free
  • Non Greasy Formula

Another point to consider is that most anti wrinkle eye creams come in different potencies and times of application. For example, if you wake up with puffiness and dark circles then it is recommended to apply an eye cream suited for morning application (day cream). On the opposite, night creams usually contain Alpha hydroxy acid which is intended to protect/repair your skin from damage, which is why it is best to apply these types of eye cream at night only.

The best part of using the Own Skin Health Lifting Eye Cream is that it can be applied to the delicate eye area morning or night. There is no need to go out and buy two separate brands of eye cream, when this tube alone helps to strengthen the skin so it can retain more moisture as well as increase your skin's metabolism for softer, smoother younger looking skin.

So, the question at hand will always remain the same: Do anti-wrinkle eye creams really work?

In my honest opinion, anti-aging creams, such as the Own Skin Health Lifting Eye Cream, are local applications that when applied to the skin on a daily basis, the effects produced can be quite visible over a short period of time. According to research conducted by Own Skin Health, most women were able to see changes to their eye skin area as soon as eight weeks. At first, I {perhaps like many of you reading this post} was skeptical, however after a few weeks of using the eye cream, I have to say that the skin around my eyes feels more hydrated, softer and supple than before.

To see how I apply my eye cream, please refer to this older post {HERE}.

As a rule of thumb, anyone who is willing to try out a new product should always keep in mind that everyone's body chemistry is different. You may not always see the results right off the back, but if you are patient by allowing your skin and body time to adjust to the eye cream, you could be pleasantly surprised at the great results you will have.

Remember along with taking care of your skin with a beauty regimen, a good diet that includes drinking more water, vitamin c, antioxidants from consuming veggies and living an active lifestyle are also great ways of keeping those wrinkles at bay.

Choosing an Anti-aging Eye Cream

When it comes to choosing an anti-aging eye cream, the possibilities are endless. The choices range from high end department store brands, to affordable names brands and can be found in all shapes, sizes, and forms. So you can imagine that when it comes time to choose an anti-aging eye cream that will produce the best results for you, the job is a tough one. Whether your target area is above the eye, below the eye, or the eyelashes, the possibilities are definitely there.

For the Eyelashes

Although not your ordinary anti-aging eye cream, the products available for your eyelashes are enriched with a complex of lecithin along with plant extracts. It's meant to promote growth of the lashes, and is clinically proven to do so while conditioning your existing lashes.

Product Recommendation:
L'Oreal Paris Lash Boosting Technology, 24-Hour Lash Boosting Power System Kit (1 Day and 1 Night)

Wrinkle Reducers

A few different kinds of anti-aging eye cream can be found that reduce wrinkles while promoting healthy skin. Some of these wrinkle reducers are left on over night and then washed off, while others are meant to be used under makeup or as a lotion alone. The severity of the eye lines you are trying to reduce or smooth will probably make a big difference in which type of anti-aging eye cream you decide to use. For more deep lines or crows feet, you will probably want to use an overnight treatment, coupled with a leave on treatment. For softer lines that need just a bit of smoothing, a leave on conditioner should do the trick.

Product Recommendations:
Olay Regenerist Eye Regenerating Cream Plus Touch Of Concealer 0.5 Fl Oz

Age Defying Choices

In addition to worrying about wrinkles, lines, and brittle eyelashes, we simply want to defy our age. It's natural, as getting older means feeling older. What better way to feel younger than to look younger? With age defying anti-aging eye cream choices, defying age is a possibility. The choices in this area include firming cream and glow enhancers but the line tends to also offer natural choices such as chamomile anti-aging eye cream, and herbal treatments.

Product Recommendations:
Own Products Lifting Eye Cream

Many products offer multiple benefits in one treatment, while others come in kits and require multiple steps. The severity of your problem areas don't really matter as to whether a one step or multiple step treatment is the best choice, however pricing, time availability, and satisfaction should be the deciding factors.

The Perfect pair of Prescription Eyeglasses from Selectspecs.com

Today's post is brought to you by selectspecs

I can recall wearing my very first pair of prescription glasses at the age of ten - I was still in elementary when we were given the news that I would need to wear glasses everyday for the rest of my life. Over the years I have gone through so many prescription glasses that if I were to sit down to count all the money that this has cost me, I think I would have a small fortune. It wasn't until my late teenage years when I gave up on wearing prescription glasses. I was completely fed up and decided to get my very first pair of contacts.

I loved the convenience of wearing contacts so much that I hardly ever wore my prescription glasses again. What a mistake that proved to be.

Last year, I began to notice that every time I would put on my contacts, after having them in for a few hours, my eyes would struggle to focus. Not being able to focus was annoying but it was the the itchy scratching feeling that I couldn't bare. It was awful. After complaining to my husband about it, fed up and annoyed I dragged myself to the eye doctor.

After the doctor examined my eyes I was told that I abused my eyes by "over wearing" my contacts. According to her, the blood vessels in my eyes were not getting enough oxygen due to the contacts. It was the lack of oxygen that was clouding my vision, which in the end worsened my eyesight. So, after being scolded like a child, the Doctor handed me my new prescription pointing into the direction of her assistant, who was gingerly waiting for me by the wall of shame. {Not really, but that's what it felt like}.

I placed an order for new prescription glasses that very day. When I arrived back home and after reliving my earlier experience once again when I told my husband what happened, he advised me to get online, search for a prescription eyeglass company so I could place an order for a second pair of glasses.

Now that I had been banned from wearing contacts {at least for a year or two} He told me that it would be in my best interest to order to a few pairs of glasses - this way if one pair broke or got lost I would still be able to function. Yes, I cannot function without wearing eyeglasses - I am THAT blind.

Anyway, this is how I came upon selectspecs.

Selectspecs is an online prescription eyeglass retailer. They have an array of frames to choose from. Selectspecs offers prescription glasses, sunglasses, and accessories. What caught my attention was the variety of Economy glasses that they had in stock. It took a few minutes to browse through everything they had at the time, but luckily I was able to find a pair that I really liked.

The glasses I ordered and received are sleek, classic and simple in design. These frames are listed as Icon Prescription Glasses, 2840  in black for single vision prescriptions. This particular Icon frame is thin, lightweight and is also available in Ultra Super Thin and UltraX Super Thin.

Here is a portion of their description on Selectspecs: "These fashionable specs have an arm length of 140, bridge width of 18 and lens width of 50, meaning the total width is 118 and they are compatible with Single Vision lenses. FREE UV, Anti-Reflection, and Scratch Resistant coatings are available free when you order these..."

Although I do miss the convenience of wearing contacts, I love these frames. Black frames are classic, sleek and easily match any type of outfit that I am wearing. These Icon frames are so thin and lightweight, I do not feel them on my face when wearing them. Sometimes I even forget that I have them on. One feature of these frames that I somewhat dislike, is that the frames are so thin, I am afraid that somehow I will eventually end up breaking them in half. To avoid that from happening, I usually tend to wear these frames when I am out working with clients then I place them back into their case as soon as I arrive home. So far so good - as you can see the glasses are still intact - in one piece.

One last thing that I can say about Selectspecs is that ordering the glasses was a very easy and simple process. The glasses were shipped to me in a timely manner and their overall service has been outstanding. So, the next time you or someone you know needs a new pair of prescription glasses, save yourself some time and aggravation by going straight to Selectspecs.

It's that simple.

Get Rid of Tired Puffy Eyes in Two Steps

You have spoken. We have listened.

The first beauty post being featured during this week's Beauty Bash Event will be all about the eyes, specifically under eye skin care.  Your eyes are one of the most important features of your face which is why it's vital to take good care of them.

Most women will probably say to themselves, "I do take care of my under eye skin - every time I moisturize. Isn't that enough?"

The answer to this questions is: NO, that will never be enough! Moisturizing the skin on your face is one thing but knowing how to take care of your eyes is another.

The skin under and around your eyes is very delicate in comparison to the rest of your facial skin and as such, this skin needs a little more attention. Adding a few simple steps into your regular skin care routine will certainly help you maintain your under eye skin (and eyes) appearing youthful and refreshed.

1.  Only use eye creams - NOT face creams

Most facial creams have certain ingredients that can extremely harsh on under eye skin.  You want to make sure that you only apply eye cream instead. There are two (2) eye creams that have proven to be very effective in protecting this delicate skin area.

Get Defensive SPF 15 Eye Cream

What it is: This eye cream provides SPF protection as it hydrates, soften lines around the eyes and reduces puffiness. The cream is light-weight which allows the skin to quickly absorb all of its properties.

Main Ingredients: maqui berry + licorice root

Benefits:
SPF provides both UVA and UVB broad-spectrum protection.
Cream increases under eye skin moisture.
Instantly makes the eye area look brighter
Reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness

Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum

What it is: A fragrance-free eye serum formulated to smooth fine lines around the eyes, hydrate under eye skin while providing lift to the skin.

Main Ingredients: concentrated amino-peptide + B3 complex

Benefits:
Serum brightens under eye skin
Smooths fine lines
Hydrates to help firm and lift skin appearance around the eyes

2. Application

Using these eye creams is a great start to improving your under eye skin care, however knowing how and where to apply the creams is even more important.

Applying the creams about 1/2 inch above upper and lower lash line is more effective than applying cream directly onto the eyelid and under eye areas. Eye creams tend to "travel" throughout the skin so applying it above/under the eye will ensure that the creams are absorbed by the areas you are targeting (ie. puffiness, crows-feet, fine lines under lash lines).

Using the ring finger, apply the cream by making small dots along the areas above eye. Gently pat the cream into skin.

Applying eye cream should be done at least twice a day - morning and night. A suggestion for those who experience tired puffy eyes, before beginning your skin routine place eye cream in fridge for a few minutes. Applying "cold" eye cream will refresh under eye skin and reduce puffiness almost immediately...plus it feels so good!

Feeling good and rejuvenated is "a great thing". Taking just two steps in the right direction can make all the difference. Remember: Your eyes are the windows of your soul.... so why not make sure these windows stay youthful and refreshed?

Now it's Your turn: Do you have any special "tips" on under eye skin care that you like to add?
